The vision for Cicada Spa in Ubud is to create a sanctuary that embodies quiet tropical luxury, seamlessly blending elegance and simplicity.
Synergizing Human, Space, and Nature
The aim is to make the most of the existing structure while enhancing its connection to nature. The design seeks to craft an environment where guests can experience profound relaxation, enveloped in the serenity of Ubud’s lush landscape. Every element is thoughtfully considered to reflect the commitment to sustainability, local craftsmanship, and an aesthetic that is both timeless and understated.
Materiality plays a central role in expressing the ethos of Cicada Spa. The design prioritizes locally sourced and handmade elements, ensuring that each material choice resonates with the spirit of Ubud. Natural materials such as stone, wood, and bamboo are celebrated for their tactile qualities, contributing to a warm and welcoming atmosphere. These materials are left in their most authentic forms, with textures and grains that tell a story of their origins. The play of texture across surfaces, from the smoothness of polished wood to the roughness of hand-hewn stone, adds a layer of sensory richness that enhances the guest experience. The use of organic shapes and natural forms extends to the furniture and fixtures, where subtle curves and flowing lines echo the gentle contours of the surrounding landscape, grounding the design in its natural context.

The design of Pravi Spa is an ode to the intrinsic harmony between human beings, the spaces they inhabit, and the natural world that surrounds them. Each space is carefully curated to nurture well-being, using organic forms that mirror the fluidity of nature. The design avoids harsh lines and sharp angles, opting instead for rounded shapes that evoke a sense of calm and balance.
This approach ensures that the spa feels both intimate and expansive, encouraging guests to immerse themselves in the tranquil atmosphere. By incorporating open-air areas and maximizing natural light, the design fosters a seamless interaction between the interior spaces and the verdant tropical environment outside, creating a harmonious dialogue between built form and nature.
