The Sommelier is the first premium wine bar in Berawa, Bali.

Translating visions into responsible expression.

They seek to provide high-quality wines, while also putting their focus on providing a luxury and upscale atmosphere that touches all senses a wine tasting experience.

The building initially was a white shophouse with an odd opening shape, so we designed it to be covered with shingle roofing that made the front facade become like a large box. The new façade gives the wine bar a distinctive presence, making it a standout destination within the Berawa neighborhood. This also helps create a sense of curiosity from the pedestrians, while also welcoming and inviting for people to come inside.

As the brand wants to position themselves as luxury and premium brand, we then translate that vision into our design to be intimate, elegant, and sophisticated. This is reflected by our material selections, where the overall material is in darker tones, combined with cozy and intimate lighting, perfect for enjoying fine wine. For the table and chairs, we use marble tops paired with green velvet fabric for the sofa & chairs soft furnishings.

Their polished marble surfaces exude sophistication and elegance, becoming communicators to patrons that they are in a place where attention to detail and quality are paramount. Meanwhile, the soft velvet fabric texture with deep green jewel-toned color creates a sense of comfort and opulence. Each and every design element collectively contributes to create an experience where the guests feel pampered, but also at ease.

In addition to the material selections, the seating layout also incorporates diverse seating areas. The banquette booth seating provides an intimate and cozy setting for couples and small groups. The regular sets of table and chairs arrangements allow for flexibility in accommodating different group sizes.

Meanwhile, the wine bar area, with its sleek design and premium bar stools, offers a sophisticated setting for those who prefer to sit at the bar and engage with expert the sommeliers and/or bartenders.

Another highlight of The Sommelier is the wine chiller room. It is designed as a glass-enclosed showcase, located near by the entrance, allowing customers to be aware of the presence of the extensive wine collections. The glass enclosure not only serves as a functional space but also serves as an architectural focal point, adding an element of visual interest and sophistication to the interior.

Last but not least, The Sommelier also provides a VIP room for private groups, emphasizing exclusivity and privacy for those who seeks a more intimate atmosphere. To enhance the experience, they also provide a separate entrance from the regular ones, that is located at the east side. While the regular room and VIP room is interconnected with a window for easy service access, the VIP room is equipped with curtains that can be closed whenever necessary to maintain the privacy of the VIPs.
